The people behind the cards...
The Story Telling Cards were created by Linda Pene, Blair Whiley, and Anthony Pene writing under the pen name of Ake Ake. Ake Ake Artistry Limited has been a registered company since 1997. The three co-writers are of Maori descent and live on a bush clad property one hours drive from the nations capital, Wellington.
Linda Eleanor Pene
Linda is a qualified primary teacher, creative writer and palmist with twenty years experience. She has done nationwide tours in both palmistry and card readings over the past few years using The Story Telling Cards. Linda has also run contracted training and motivational lectures and workshops around the country for youth.
Blair Peter Whiley
In his earlier years Blair worked as a builder and leather craftsman. He is currently working at Under the Rainbow (a local new age shop) selling crystals and doing readings using The Story Telling Cards. Blairs’ skills have been focused since a near death experience that he had several years ago.
Anthony Patara Pene
Anthony is the older brother of Linda and an energy healer as well as an International artist and designer. He has recently won a creative business award for his unique perspective on the incorporation of belief structures into the working environment in connection with Maori kaupapa (the way of being).
All three members of Ake Ake have travelled extensively around the globe. Each are confident, motivated, passionate speakers about their project The Story Telling Cards. Anthony and Blair have both had limited experience in media interviews. Linda and Anthony are well versed in public speaking.
All three have been conduct workshops and using The Story Telling Cards with both friends and public alike for the past 2-3 years, Linda on nationwide tours and Blair as part of his work at Under the Rainbow.
All three, while reluctant to leave their paradise in the Otaki native bush wilderness, recognize the need to tour and promote their work to a wider audience.
